Books and Beer
I've just read "Lord of the Silver Bow" by David Gemmell. It's been out for a while now, but I being a bit of a tight wad I was waiting to get it in paperback, and got a good deal on eBay for a new one. I could have read it in a single sitting - Gemmell has been my favourite author for a long time now and this book was no disappointment. |
As for "Beer", I went to the Fox and Hounds in Urmston last night to see a couple of friends, and ended up bumping into Mr Barry Peden, my form tutor at St Bede's College between September 1985 and July 1988. Bizarrely, I saw him walking up Broad Road near the sports centre about a month ago.

Rossi robbed at Le Mans
Well, it looked like he'd sorted the bike and was out to prove everybody wrong. Pulling away from Pedrosa on the Honda with two-thirds of the race done, and his engine goes. Travesty.

New ZX Spectrum games from Cronosoft
I've bought some new games from Simon at Cronosoft.
The first game is Dead or Alive - a vertical scroller that reminds me a bit of Commando except set in the Wild West. I'm enjoying this one very much. Unlike the last Jonathan Cauldwell game I bought (Loco Bingo), I can actually play this one! I just wish there were a password for each level, although I read on JC's web site that he thinks the games lacks levels so maybe this is why there isn't such a facility.
The second game is Rough Justice, another Cauldwell game. This reminds me a little bit of The Pyramid and Airwolf
The third game is Hop'n'Chop by the Shaw brothers. It's a colourful platform game about chopping down trees, although pretty difficult.

Books
In the last week I've read "The Auf Wiedersehen Pet Story" and Valentino Rossi's autobiography.
Both are great reads, especially Rossi's - there are some hilarious bits in it.
