5km Sizzler, Wythenshawe Park

I did my first race in a year last night, clocking 22:15 for 5km which wasn't bad given that I am only running once or twice a fortnight. I fancy trying to build in some extra runs now though - especially as this time last year I was over two minutes slower.

Thanks to Tony Payne at Chorlton Runners for giving me his number to run under when he couldn't get a baby sitter!

New Nik Kershaw site

It's a year since I was knocked off my CBR600RR on the A34. Two days after that, Ruth and I went to an "intimate" Nik Kershaw gig courtesy of Darren Proctor and his breakfast team at Century FM. Here are some pics that Daragh took.

Anyway, Nik is currently finishing his latest album, and here's a holding page to his new web site.

Apropos Article

Given all the discussion about Dave Collins and UKA that's going on in the athletics world, it made me smile to see this article from five years ago.

Steve Cram's Golden Moments

These are five years old now, and some aren't ones I'd have picked, but they're worth a browse!

Steve Ovett's entry on Wikipedia

I thought it looked a little sparse compared to Coe's so I've added his medal tally for the European championships. I've also added a list of PB's.

I also found "A day in the life of Steve Ovett" from 1998 on the IAAF web site.

Another item for my collection

I've picked up some stamps with images of John Walker, Alberto Juantorena, Ivo van Damme, Seb Coe and Steve Ovett.

As usual, click the image for a larger view.

Mel Watman's new book has arrived: All-time Greats of British Athletics.

Here's an advert on the Athletics Weekly web site.

Neons finally on!

It's taken me months to get around to it, but the neon tube is finally on the C5! I'll post a better picture another time, but here's one for now that I took in daylight. Click the image for a larger view.

My C5 gets a name at last

Lucy offered to help me clean my C5 today. She's just getting over a nasty bout of chicken pox, during which she watched "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" constantly. Seems like a good enough name!

Click each of the images below to get a larger one.

Rossi to stay in MotoGP - hurray!

I thought this was going to be Rossi's last year in MotoGP before he switched to F1, but he's signed a one year extension with Yamaha.

There are some suggested reasons on the ITV web site, which seem plausible after reading his autobiography and his reasons from switching from Honda to Yamaha in 2004.
