I saw an article recently about the latest version of iTunes supporting podcasts, so I've been keeping an eye out for it. It was available today, so I've installed it.
I currently do not subscribe to any download feeds, but it is quite an interesting idea. If you don't know what they are, then here is a fairly good introduction.
I've had a few troubles with my iPod Mini since I got it at Christmas. Occasionally, I'd turn it on and all of the songs had disappeared. I wondered if this was because my two main machines are connected via Firewire, and when I plug the iPod in it was pretty much random which machine would grab the iPod.
Tonight though, I plugged my iPod in before the PC was booted up. Big mistake. As soon as XP started, it ran its chkdsk stuff and started screwing up the files on the iPod. It wouldn't turn on, iTunes moaned about disk write errors and all sorts. Oops. I tried resetting as described here and that just made things worse: I now had an icon of a folder along with an exclamation mark in a triangle every time I turned it on. Even the iPod updater software gave errors when I tried to run it. Aargh!
I did the reset stuff a couple more times, and then the updater software ran. Phew!
What a pain that was.
I haven't seen a free SMS service for a while. Ruth told me about this one the other day.
Some pictures of the man himself.
I emailed Century FM the other day, asking about the Nik Kershaw interview, and also about the upcoming gig.
Rebecca (program manager) emailed me to say to keep listening between 5.30pm and 6pm every night next week for a chance to win tickets. I replied and said thanks for the info.
This morning, Darren Proctor (the breakfast time DJ) emailed me saying that since it was obvious that I was such a big Nik fan (is it?!) that he'd convinced his boss to give me two tickets! Brilliant.
... but I reckon she gets her sartorial sense from her mother.
Looks like a great photo for a caption competition...
Nik Kershaw did a phone interview on Century FM this morning at 7.45am.
There's going to be a gig, and they're doing a ticket competition all next week from 5.30pm to 6pm...
Shame he's so old though. I was miffed when he (Edwin van der Sar) joined Fulham instead of United years ago. Still, it should give us a couple of years to try to find yet another replacement for Schmeichel.
Spit has one of these, and I've seen it in action. I splashed out on one yesterday, the gadget freak that I am.
I took Ruth down to Birmingham today for one of her OCR examiners' meetings, and it got us there and back no worries. It's ace. I'll be using it just to go to the shops :)
